Tuningi Guests staying at the five-star lodge offers a most thrilling and unforgettable safari adventure in South Africa. Set in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, which is renowned for its excellent wild dog sightings and home to lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos and elephants make for exciting game drives, luxurious chalet accommodation, as well as gourmet dining.

The accommodation is in the Main Lodge where three Luxury Suites and one Family Suite. Little Tuningi is a private camp ideal for families and small groups of friends travelling together. It is here where up to six guests can be accommodated in two separate chalets.

The Luxury Suites and Family Suites offer guests convenient amenities and features for guests to enjoy.  Air conditioning is available for the warm summer days, and heating can be appreciated during the colder winter months.  Fireplaces create a most pleasant and comfortable atmosphere in the chalet's bedrooms and bathrooms.  For the private decks, the unique sounds of the bushveld can be taken in while watch passing animals.

Little Tuningi

Little Tuningi is a private camp which can accommodate between two to six guests.  Children of all ages are welcome to stay at this particular camp.  It consists of one Luxury Suite where two guests can sleep and one spacious Family Suite which accommodates either four adults or two adults and two children.

Dining at Tuningi is an ultimate indulgence: delicious and composed of beautifully presented meals.  Served in the dining room or in the outdoor boma, which is under an old Fig Tree overlooking the waterhole, guests enjoy exceptional safari cuisine.

Walking safari

Guests can take a walk through the bushveld with an armed, qualified ranger to get closer to nature than by game drive vehicle. One learns about the animal tracks, facts about dung, interesting insects, the trees and colourful birds and how they all co-exist.

Family Suite

# Rooms:

The Lodge features two Family Suites; one is at the main lodge and the other one is part of Little Tuningi. These modern family suites are ideal for parents who like to have their children share their room.

The features of these suites are the same as the ones available in the Luxury Suites.  Two en-suite double bedrooms are available with pull-out couches. Furthermore, families enjoy a dining area, a kitchenette as well as a living room with an expansive timber deck. The Family Suites can accommodate four guests and two children.

Direction to Tuningi Safari Lodge via Zeerust / Abjaterskop Gate (4h30 - 5 hours from Johannesburg)

From OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport, get on the R21 towards Pretoria up to the Exit to the N1 Polokwane (about 37km).
Get onto the N1 towards Polokwane and continue up to the N4 Rustenburg slipway (about 22km).
Take the slipway onto the N4 towards Rustenburg (this is just after the Zambezi Drive offramp).
At Rustenburg continue the N4 through Swartruggens towards Zeerust.
Please note that The N4 is a toll road with four toll gates to Zeerust.
Three before Rustenburg and one just after Swartruggens.
Once in Zeerust turn right at the four-way to stop street into President Street.
There is a signpost on the left that says Madikwe Game Reserve/Gaborone and an ABSA Bank on the corner on your left.
Follow the R49 towards the reserve for approximately 97km.
The first entrance to the reserve is Abjaterskop Gate.
Pass that gate and enter at the next gate - Wonderboom Gate exactly 7km from the first gate.
Once you have entered the Wonderboom Gate, follow the LODGES sign posts to Tuningi for another 8 km.


On site parking facilities are provided for guests.
