Dining

Dining at Tuningi is an ultimate indulgence: delicious and composed of beautifully presented meals.  Served in the dining room or in the outdoor boma, which is under an old Fig Tree overlooking the waterhole, guests enjoy exceptional safari cuisine. 

After the thrilling morning game drives, guests enjoy a hearty brunch which includes fruits, cheeses, eggs, as well as cereals all of which are prepared fresh.  Lunch is best enjoyed outdoors where diners may relax and watch the animals visiting the waterhole.

Game drives

Elephant, lion, buffalo, black and white rhino, leopard as well as the endangered wild dog are just some of the fantastic wildlife sightings which await travellers in the 75 000 hectares Madikwe Game Reserve.  Travellers may participate in thrilling early morning and late afternoon /evening game drives through the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Walking safari

Guests can take a walk through the bushveld with an armed, qualified ranger to get closer to nature than by game drive vehicle. One learns about the animal tracks, facts about dung, interesting insects, the trees and colourful birds and how they all co-exist.

Swimming

The outdoor swimming pool offers welcoming refreshment during the warm summer months in Madikwe.  After the game drives, guests are invited to relax with a sundowner at the lodge's bar or sit by the rim flow swimming pool.

Family Suite

The Lodge features two Family Suites; one is at the main lodge and the other one is part of Little Tuningi. These modern family suites are ideal for parents who like to have their children share their room.

The features of these suites are the same as the ones available in the Luxury Suites.  Two en-suite double bedrooms are available with pull-out couches. Furthermore, families enjoy a dining area, a kitchenette as well as a living room with an expansive timber deck. The Family Suites can accommodate four guests and two children.

Directions

Direction to Tuningi Safari Lodge via Zeerust / Abjaterskop Gate (4h30 - 5 hours from Johannesburg)

From OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport, get on the R21 towards Pretoria up to the Exit to the N1 Polokwane (about 37km).
Get onto the N1 towards Polokwane and continue up to the N4 Rustenburg slipway (about 22km).
Take the slipway onto the N4 towards Rustenburg (this is just after the Zambezi Drive offramp).
At Rustenburg continue the N4 through Swartruggens towards Zeerust.
Please note that The N4 is a toll road with four toll gates to Zeerust.
Three before Rustenburg and one just after Swartruggens.
Once in Zeerust turn right at the four-way to stop street into President Street.
There is a signpost on the left that says Madikwe Game Reserve/Gaborone and an ABSA Bank on the corner on your left.
Follow the R49 towards the reserve for approximately 97km.
The first entrance to the reserve is Abjaterskop Gate.
Pass that gate and enter at the next gate - Wonderboom Gate exactly 7km from the first gate.
Once you have entered the Wonderboom Gate, follow the LODGES sign posts to Tuningi for another 8 km.

Parking
