The Umkhumbi Lodge nestles in the Kuleni Game Park, Hluhluwe, offering wonderful relaxing accommodation alongside an excellent dining experience.

It is surrounded by an array of African wildlife including zebras, giraffe, wildebeest, suni antelopes, impalas, warthogs, nyala, duikers, vervet monkeys, banded mongoose, bushbabies and if you are lucky you may spot a leopard walking on the surrounding trail.

For guests interested in the birdlife may expect to see Pink-throated Twinspots, Narina Trogon, Eastern Nicator and several birds that are indigenous to this vicinity. This is an area rich in African wildlife with the Hluhluwe Impolozi Park nearby, which is home to the Big Five safaris, and a visit to the closeby iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

The Umkhumbi Lodge prides itself on its conservation efforts both through education, environmental awareness and is known for delighting guests with all aspects of the African bush, both big and small in equal measure, providing friendly service and experiences that have visitors wanting to return time and time.

The lodge features twelve rooms, which are all comfortable and in keeping with the lodges feel, each with air-conditioning alongside en-suite facilities. Family rooms are available to suit your families needs.

Dinners are prepared by Chef Meva who presents a well thought out menu to ensure that all his guests get a culinary experience to complement the surrounding African vicinity. Using only local, fresh produce, either from their vegetable and herb garden or from a local supplier alongside only the highest-quality cuts of meat including pork, chicken, beef, venison and variously available fish dishes.

Breakfast and lunch packed lunches provided on request which are useful if you are off on a days safari. Umkhumbi Lodge is certainly a family-friendly lodge, with children being catered for both in the rooms and in the child-friendly menus that Chef Meva prepares for your little ones.

The open-fronted 'lapa', homes the dining room and the tree-top bar and lounge where you will get to experience stunning sunsets as you sip your favourite tipple on the wooden decking.

As well as the opportunity to watch those important sporting matches viewed on the TV by the bar. Evenings usually end with shared stories told around the fire, listening to the sounds of the bush and watching the stars twinkling above.
