White Elephant Safari Lodge is in the wildlife-rich Pongola Game Reserve overlooking the western escarpment of the Lebombo Mountains, Lake Jozini and the endless savannah of Northern Zululand in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province.

The White Elephant is a grand safari lodge close to several excellent Zululand game and nature reserves, such as the Mkuze Reserve, the Ndumo Reserve, the Tembe Elephant Reserve, the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. 

The White Elephant was originally built in the 1920s. This 16-bedded lodge reflects the history and romance of the African colonial era. The eight luxurious safari-style tents feature an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor canvas shower, a private veranda as well as a personal bar.

Pongola Game Reserve with Lake Jozini as the main feature in South Africa's remaining public tigerfish water. This scenic wilderness is home to large herds of impala, elephant, buffalo, blue wildebeest and zebra, and abundant birdlife. The Pongola Game Reserve, therefore, compares favourably with Africa's outstanding fishing Mecca, Lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe.

The Lake Jozini, which is also known as the Pongolapoort Dam, covers a total surface area of 16 100 hectares and is fed by the Pongola River with a catchment area of over one thousand square kilometres. The length of the lake exceeds 30km, the northern corner cutting into Swaziland. On the eastern side, the Lake Jozini nestles against the spectacular Lebombo mountain range.

From the novice fisherman to the expert anglers fishing with a fly, Lake Jozini provides guests with the ideal location for tiger fishing, while enjoying the pristine wilderness setting of this magnificent region.

At the lodge, guests have the choice of dining in either the restaurant or the spectacular Wild side Boma.
