Upon arrival in Maun, for your Botswana 4 Night Safari, you will be met by a representative of Delta Air who will assist you in the aircraft and onward air transfer to the Deception Valley Lodge.

Set on fifteen thousand hectares of private reserve, bordering the Central Kalahari Reserve, the Deception Valley Lodge was the first safari lodge in the area.

With a stunning location overlooking the waterhole, each of the eight very roomy suites has a bedroom, separate sitting area, en-suite bathroom with bathtubs and outdoor shower. The lodge boasts a swimming pool, several indoor and outdoor spaces in which to unwind in the remoteness of the location, wireless internet delivered via satellite.

With its airstrip, a short 16-minute drive from the lodge, Deception Valley Lodge is a mere 33 minutes by air from Maun. The Reserve’s extensive network of tracks makes for a perfect day and night driving terrain. The Kalahari sand offers excellent possibilities for tracking of lion & leopard.

The lodge also offers a profoundly lauded Bushman (San) experience. Braam, one of the owners, grew up in the Kalahari with the San and several of his compatriots live on the reserve and are ready to show guests the way they live in this harsh arid environment.

Walk into an area that appears to be uninitiated, but to the Bushman, it is a paradise of berries, seeds, tubers, herbs and flowers used in cookery, medicine, rituals. An abundance of purposes and this is over and above the mammals, birds, reptiles and insects that form part of this desert world.

Day Three:

After breakfast, you will leave by light plane to Camp Delta Camp. The Camp is set in the woods of a large, palm island on the edge of Chief’s Island, adjoining the Moremi Reserve in the Okavango Delta.

The crystal-clear water channels, lily-studded lagoons, large floodplains and myriad islands are home to over 453 bird species, a spectacular array of plant varieties and the full menagerie of African animals. The Okavango has status as one of the world's premier wilderness areas.

The importance at Delta Camp is in harmony and serenity (stalking animals on foot provides the excitement), and guests are actively urged to visit the local community, home to the guides, and to mix with the people there.

Dine in the beautiful dining room facing the Delta, viewing the surrounding floodplains and wildlife. Take a picnic lunch and go out for the whole day, hiking on nearby islands.

The Delta Camp offers the purest classical Okavango Delta experience – local guides, hand-made wooden dug-out mokoro, no motor-driven activities, no generators in camp.
