The vast Entabeni Safari Conservancy lies in the World Heritage Waterberg region of South Africa's Limpopo Province. Located Less than a three hours drive north of Johannesburg and Pretoria, the scenic 22 000 ha malaria-free, Big Five Entabeni Game Reserve to home to five unique eco-systems.

The upper escarpment of the Conservancy offers spectacular rock formations as well as wide open grass plains. This wilderness area is away from the reserve's lower plateau by 600 meter high cliffs. Entabeni's lower escarpment is about three degrees warmer and features sandy wetlands.
 
The Lodge offers guests far more than the usual game sightings of the "Big Five". Additional thrilling and relaxing activities such as scenic helicopter flights, spa treatments, stargazing in the observatory, sunset lake cruises and a variety of game viewing activities to enjoy.

Accommodation

The Conservancy is home to five different game lodges, namely the Hanglip Mountain Lodge, Kingfisher Lodge, Lakeside Lodge, Ravineside Lodge and Wildlife Lodge.

Entabeni Lakeside Lodge

The Lakeside Lodge lies on the banks of Entabeni Lake on the upper escarpment of this magnificent Safari Conservancy. The elegant en suite bedrooms are connected to the restaurant, reception, conference and boma with thatched walkways.

Entabeni Ravineside Lodge

The Ravineside Lodge is on the upper escarpment overlooking the gorge. Set under the shadow of Entabeni Mountain, the thatched wooden Ravineside Lodge is on stilts on the cliff edge. Scenic views of natural ravines and wooded hillsides can be enjoyed from here. Each lodge features 3 or 4 en-suite bedrooms with African decor. The private open-plan lounge, as well as the bar area, extend to the welcoming sundecks.

Entabeni Kingfisher Lodge

The tranquil Kingfisher Lodge features ten luxury en-suite thatched rooms including one Honeymoon Suite. Situated on the banks of Lake Entabeni, the exclusive Kingfisher Lodge entices guests outdoors onto its wooden decks. This Lodge reflects a unique combination of luxury and true African wilderness, offering views stretching beyond the lake to the Hanglip Mountain. The bedrooms offer private sun decks and lounge areas with romantic fireplaces.

Entabeni Wildside Lodge

The Wildside Safari Camp is on the lower escarpment of the Conservancy. Twenty individual en-suite tented chalets including four tented family chalets offer a real and unforgettable African bush experience.The comfortable en-suite tents are complemented by an open lounge/bar area with the wild roaring fire in the boma.

Entabeni Hanglip Mountain Lodge

The Hanglip Mountain Lodge lies on the reserve's lower escarpment. This charming game lodge evokes the romantic Africa of a bygone era. The luxury suites are furnished in African Baroque style. Comfortable private sun decks with scenic views of the wetlands and vast open plains can be found here. Enchanting gardens provide a paradise of tranquillity.

This Reserve has become a favourite conference and team building 'bush getaway'. The conference venues on the Upper Escarpment are at the Lakeside and Ravineside Lodges with a smaller facility situated on the Lower Escarpment at the Wildside Safari Camp.

The conference venues are air conditioned, offer standard conference equipment and provide breakaway areas located in gardens from where scenic views of the spectacular Waterberg Mountains, open plains, and Lake Entabeni can be enjoyed.

Our opinion

Lakeside Lodge is a grand lodge to visit if you were travelling as a family & not looking for anything over the top. The staff is friendly, and the rangers are very knowledgeable. The game drives were exhilarating; especially the trip from the upper escarpment down to the lower mountain. A stay at the Reserve is bound to be fun-filled and memorable.

Dining at the Entabeni Safari Conservancy

Each camp at the Entabeni Game Reserve in South Africa features its dining venues in different settings. Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners consist of delicious and scrumptious meals which include only the freshest ingredients.

The Spa

  • The scenic Entabeni Game Reserve in the Waterberg region of South Africa's Limpopo Province is home to many animals including the "Big Five": lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes.

    As this area of South Africa is malaria-free, the Entabeni game lodges are ideal for families travelling with children of all ages.

Children Policy
  • Children are welcome at the Entabeni Game Reserve.  However, children under the age of six years cannot participate in the scheduled game drives.   Depending on the number of kids staying at the Entabeni Game Reserve and the availability of additional vehicles, special game drives for children can be organised.  
     
    Children under the age of 12 years may not join the game walks offered at Entabeni Safari Conservancy. It is to be noted that the game lodges, which are located within the malaria-free Reserve are unfenced therefore extra precautions need to be taken when travelling with children.

Directions to the Lower Escarpment of the Entabeni Safari Conservancy from Pretoria:

Take the N1 North Highway from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg).
Keep on the N1 through the Carousel and Kranskop Tollgates.
Travel a further 32km on the N1.
Take the Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) R101A off ramp/exit (Route 289).
Drive 8km to Mookgopong (Naboomspruit).
Drive straight through the town of Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) on the R101A (29km) until you reach the Doorndraai/Sterkrivier turnoff (Entabeni sign).
Turn left and continued for 22km until you reach the Haakdoring turn-off.
Turn left and continued for a further 10km on a gravel road until you reach the large ENTABENI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE sign on your right-hand side and the security entrance gate.

Directions to Entabeni Upper Escarpment from Pretoria:

Take the N1 North Highway from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg).
Keep on the N1 through the Carousel and Kranskop Tollgates.
Travel a further 32km on the N1.
Take the Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) R101A off ramp/exit (Route 289).
Drive 8km to Mookgopoing (Naboomspruit).
Turn left at the second traffic light in the town centre (R520) on Nelson Mandela Road.
Continue the R520 for 11km until you reach a T-Junction.
Turn left and continued for 500m and turn right at the Marken sign.
Keep on the tar road for a further 24km after which the road becomes a gravel road.
Continue for another 21.5km.
You will see an ENTABENI sign on the right-hand side.
Turn right and drive 3.3km on a gravel road until you reach the security entrance gate.
