Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Arusha


Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins in the vibrant town of Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s renowned safari destinations. In the distance, the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the skyline, offering a glimpse of the incredible journey that lies ahead.

Upon arrival, transfer to your comfortable lodge near Arusha National Park, where you’ll have time to relax and prepare for the expedition.

Day 2 – Discover Arusha National Park

Before ascending Kilimanjaro, enjoy a guided walk through the beautiful landscapes of Arusha National Park, allowing your body to begin adjusting before reaching higher elevations.

Nestled between Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, the park is home to sparkling crater lakes, lush forests, rolling grasslands, and abundant wildlife, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, bushbuck, and a variety of bird species.

Later, join your fellow trekkers for a welcome dinner and expedition briefing.

Day 3 – Machame Gate to Machame Camp (10,000 ft)

After breakfast, travel to Machame Gate where your ascent officially begins.

Today’s six-hour trek winds through dense rainforest filled with towering fig trees, giant ferns, and rich vegetation. Wildlife is abundant, and lucky hikers may even catch sight of elephants moving quietly through the forest.

Arrive at Machame Camp for your first overnight stay on the mountain.

Day 4 – Machame Camp to Shira Camp (12,500 ft)

Leave the rainforest behind as the scenery gradually changes to open moorland and volcanic landscapes.

The trail climbs through giant heather and lava fields before reaching the expansive Shira Plateau, where sweeping views stretch across the Maasai plains toward Mount Meru.

Day 5 – Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (13,000 ft)

Today’s route takes you beneath the towering Kibo Massif before climbing to Lava Tower at approximately 15,000 feet.

Following the important “climb high, sleep low” acclimatization strategy, descend into the scenic Barranco Valley. Towering cliffs, giant groundsels, and cascading waterfalls make this one of the most spectacular sections of the expedition.

Day 6 – Karanga Camp Acclimatization

Today’s shorter trek provides valuable time for your body to adapt to the increasing altitude.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall before continuing to Karanga Camp. In the afternoon, optional walks through the picturesque Karanga Valley offer magnificent views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers and surrounding alpine scenery.

This additional acclimatization day plays an important role in improving summit success.

Day 7 – Karanga Camp to Kosovo Camp (15,980 ft)

Continue your steady ascent into Kilimanjaro’s alpine desert as you make your way to Kosovo Camp.

The relatively short hiking day allows you to conserve energy while completing your final acclimatization before tomorrow’s summit attempt. As evening approaches, admire spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak before enjoying an early night.

Day 8 – Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (19,341 ft)

Your summit attempt begins well before dawn with a hot drink before setting off under a sky filled with stars.

Climb steadily to Stella Point on the crater rim before tackling the final stretch to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent.

As the sun rises over the glaciers and volcanic landscape, celebrate reaching this extraordinary milestone before beginning the descent to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 9 – Return to Arusha

Complete your descent through lush mountain rainforest to the base of Kilimanjaro, where your driver will be waiting.

Day 10 – Departure
