By Air
Flying in over Lake Kariba is a magical experience, and will provide you with an understanding of the expanse Lake Kariba is. You will enjoy views of the Matusadona mountains, the islands, and the picturesque image of the white trees peeping out of the still water with herds of elephants roaming around the edge of the lake.
Flights from Hwange, Harare, Mana Pools and Victoria Falls are available.
The chartered flights will land at Fothergill Island or Kariba Airport, depending on the weather, where the Changa staff team will greet you. Then its either a scenic 15-minute game-drive to Changa from Fothergill Island or a forty-five-minute cruise on the boat leaving from Kariba’s Marineland Harbour.
By Road:
Leaving from Harare by road, it will take you about four hours, 370km, to get to arrive in Kariba, where you will join the boat transfer at the Marineland Harbour and continue your journey with a forty-five-minute cruise across the lake. We advise you to book that you book this in advance with us.
If you are a 4x4 expert, you may choose to take the self-drive option directly into Changa Safari Camp.
The travel time from Harare is approximately ten hours, a map and directions on request.
For those driving through Zimbabwe, either from Victoria Falls or Harare direction, there is the option of a boat ride that takes you across the length of Lake Kariba – 1250km. With a 22 to 24-hour boat ride where you can relax and take in the beautiful views accompanied by your vehicle travelling with you. The Kariba Ferry runs on set departures, and this must be planned and booked in advance.
