Treehouse Mbili

Embracing the shelter of the oldest and most majestic baobab on the property, Treehouse Mbili offers a one-of-a-kind stay immersed in nature. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, it accommodates up to four guests with a king-size bed and two twin beds located on the upper level – ideal for families or small groups.

The treehouse features a charming half en-suite bathroom with toilets and sinks, while the garden at the base of the towering baobab conceals an outdoor shower for a refreshing, close-to-nature experience.

From Mbili’s elevated perch, enjoy panoramic views over the tranquil waters of Chole Bay. As night falls, the whisper of baobab leaves and the sounds of the island create a soothing backdrop for restful sleep in this extraordinary setting.

Treehouse Tatu

Affectionately known as “the house on the rocks,” Treehouse Tatu is a secluded treasure, reached through a leafy tunnel that feels like entering another world. Surrounded by a twinkling dance of fireflies, this treehouse is the closest to the ocean, with sweeping sea views that stretch across the horizon. Just below, crabs and mudskippers scurry through the mangroves, while schools of fish occasionally glide beneath the house – a constant reminder of the island’s vibrant life.

Tatu is ingeniously designed across two levels, each with its own roof, creating the feeling of two distinct houses joined by a central deck. Here, a charming bathroom with twin sinks and en-suite toilets adds comfort to the wilderness. The main house rests on rocks beneath a graceful Tamarind tree, while a staircase leads down to the second house, which hovers above the beach, seamlessly blending into the mangroves.

With its unique architecture and unrivalled connection to Chole Island’s natural beauty, Treehouse Tatu offers an extraordinary escape where the line between indoors and outdoors gently disappears.

Treehouse Nne

Treehouse Nne is one of our most sought-after retreats - and with good reason. Designed in the style of a classic 19th-century Stone Town tea house, it features an elevated upper room open to the breezes, offering 360-degree views across the island. From this vantage point, sunsets are nothing short of spectacular, with vistas stretching across the baobab canopy to the open ocean.

Nne also boasts a spacious private sundeck with its own plunge pool, perfectly positioned above the mangroves and bay. By day, soak up the sun or cool off in the pool; by night, watch fireflies dance around you while stargazing from the deck. An outdoor shower, also located here, makes the experience even more magical.

Fully en-suite and thoughtfully designed with every modern comfort, Nne allows you to remain immersed in the treetops throughout your stay - no need to touch the ground unless you choose to. A unique blend of natural beauty and elevated luxury, this is treehouse living at its finest.

Treehouse Tano

he second of our tea house treehouses, Tano is a captivating blend of history, nature, and island charm. Nestled among fig-draped ruins of a grand 19th-century mansion, it stands as a living reminder of Chole’s rich past, when the island was a thriving hub of trade between the Shirazi Sultanate of Kilwa and the Omani Sultanate of Zanzibar.

Perched high in the treetops, Tano offers sweeping views of Chole Bay, where gentle breezes seem to carry echoes of centuries gone by. When the figs ripen, the treehouse becomes a gathering place for the island’s enchanting flying foxes, adding an extraordinary touch of magic to your stay.

Part of the original Chole Mjini experience, Tano features a rustic dry toilet on the ground floor and a secluded garden shower tucked away for privacy. Here, every detail connects you to the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, creating a stay that is both timeless and unforgettable.

Groundhouse Sita

Affectionately known as the “ground house,” Sita was specially designed for families with young children or for guests who prefer to stay closer to the earth rather than high among the trees. Its spacious, multi-level layout creates distinct areas for rest and relaxation: a king-size bed elevated on the highest level, two Zanzibari beds just below, and a welcoming day bed on the porch - perfect for an afternoon retreat.

Sita also features a sunken mosaic bath that doubles as a miniature swimming pool for little ones, along with a refreshing shower. The house opens onto lush gardens that flow toward the mangroves, where fireflies light up the night with their magical glow.

Although conveniently close to the bar and restaurant, Sita remains a private haven, secluded by tall hedges and floor-to-ceiling curtains. Offering both space and seclusion, it is the ideal retreat for families seeking comfort, charm, and a closer connection to Chole Island’s natural beauty.

Treehouse Saba

Nestled between two flamboyant trees and framed by the ruins of Chole’s storied past, Treehouse Saba is a spacious, fully en-suite retreat designed for families or small groups. Bright and airy, it comfortably accommodates two adults and two children, offering both modern comforts and a deep connection to the island’s natural beauty.

The elevated tea house is the perfect perch for spectacular sunsets, as ocean breezes drift through and the sky is painted in vibrant colors. A large private sun deck, complete with a plunge pool, invites you to relax and unwind, while the en-suite bathroom brings abundant natural light into the space.

Set directly on the beach, Saba offers an authentic glimpse into coastal life. By day, watch fishermen head out to sea; by night, look across the water to the twinkling lights of Mafia Island. Though these soften the firefly glow in the nearby mangroves, the experience remains magical – a seamless blend of nature, history, and comfort in one extraordinary setting.

Treehouse Moja

Elevated within the branches of an ancient baobab, Treehouse Moja offers a magical escape suspended between forest and sea. The baobab itself seems to merge with the surrounding mangroves, its roots reaching toward the ocean, while the spacious wraparound deck provides sweeping views of Kinasi Pass and the mangrove canopy below. As night falls, fireflies dance through the trees, creating an enchanting atmosphere that feels worlds away.

This remarkable treehouse is also home to some of the island’s feathered residents – you may find yourself sharing the baobab with nesting Fish Eagles or graceful Kites.

A highlight of the stay is the bamboo-enclosed outdoor shower, blending privacy with nature’s tranquility. Inside, modern comforts await, including twin sinks and an en-suite toilet, ensuring that this unique retreat offers both authenticity and convenience.
