Day Itinerary
On arrival, visitors are greeted at the five star Hlosi Game Lodge in the Amakhala Game Reserve with refreshing hand towels and served drinks in the comfortable lounge or on the swimming pool deck. While the luggage is taken to the room and vehicles parked, guests are briefed of their itinerary:
Early morning safaris
- Summer/Spring Months (October - March) morning game drives start at 6:30 am
- Autumn/Winter Months (April - September) morning game drives start at 7 am
Guests enjoy tea, coffee and cereals with yoghurts in the main lodge half an hour before the matching drive begin. The duration of a game drive is about three to four hours. During the morning game drive, the Rangers stop to allow guests to get out of the vehicle for a steaming cup of coffee which is traditionally enjoyed with rusks, a South African biscuit.
Brunch
When returning to the lodge from the morning game drive, guests may freshen up before a delicious brunch is served. This meal is usually acted as a buffet style with a wonderful choice of fresh fruit, as well as sweet pastries, jams and toast. A fully cooked breakfast is available.
Relax
After brunch guests relax at the swimming pool or enjoy an afternoon sleep. Books about Africa, cards, board games including chess as well as television and internet facilities are available in the main lodge.
An unforgettable cruise down the scenic and winding Bushman’s River can be booked on request. Guests are invited to enjoy a sundowner with snacks. The river cruise offers guests the best opportunity of viewing the rare African Finfoot and the majestic Fish Eagle.
Afternoon/Evening Game Drive
- Summer/Spring Months (October - March) evening safaris at 4:00 pm
- Autumn/Winter Months (April - September) evening safaris at 3:30 pm
Light snacks with sweets and delightful savoury pastries are available before the afternoon game drive starts. Bottled water, beverages and snacks are offered en route. The game drive vehicle stops for an excellent sundowner at sunset.
Dinner
Dinner at the Hlosi Game Lodge consists of either a five-course meal which is served next to the fireplace in the lodge or at the outdoor boma where a bush braai under the stars awaits.
