Dining at the Hlosi Game Lodge

Mealtimes at the five star Hlosi Game Lodge are an enjoyable occasion.  Guests are encouraged to provide the Lodge with any special dietary requirements for the arrival date so that they can offer only the best of dishes to suit each guest needs.

For birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, honeymoons or any other individual events, the team at the Hlosi Game Lodge make wonderful surprises. Tranquil private dinners are offered either in the bush, on the verandah of the suite or next to the fireplace. The Hlosi Game Lodge prepares beautiful evenings with sparkling wine, flowers, and candles in the suite which is perfect for a romantic celebration.

Activities, Sports & Leisure

Early morning game drive

Guests staying at Amakhala's five stars Hlosi Game Lodge are served tea, coffee, cereals and yoghurts half an hour before the early morning game drive departs.  The duration of the early morning game drive is usually 3-4 hours. The game rangers stop whenever requested by guests and share their knowledge of wildlife and fauna. The safari vehicles also come to a stop when a steaming cup of coffee is offered with biscuits.

Swimming

The five star Hlosi Game Lodge in the Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa features a lovely outdoor swimming pool which provides a beautiful place to relax.

Late afternoon / evening game drive

Light snacks including delectable sweet as well as savoury pastries are served half an hour before the late afternoon/evening game drive departs.  Beverages, Bottled water and light snacks like biltong are available during the safari.  The game ranger takes a break for guests to enjoy a sundowner at sunset.

Kids on Safari / Children activities

The five star Hlosi Game Lodge in the Eastern Cape of South Africa welcomes and accommodated children of all ages. The Hlosi Game Lodge specialises in creating luxurious and unforgettable family safari getaways. The facilities at this exclusive lodge, the dining experiences as well as the safari activities all include Children-friendly options. The lodge offers a unique and rejuvenating experience for adults.

Children up to the age of 11 are allowed on the scheduled game drives at the discretion of the ranger.  A children’s playroom room is available at the Hlosi Game Lodge featuring books, toys, games, television, DVDs and Sony Playstation.

The Children Coordinator at the Hlosi Game Lodge meets parents and children on arrival to explain which activities are available. Together with the parents, an exciting children's programme is tailored to suit weather, children’s ages and the availability of specialist staff for specific activities.  The Kids Safari activities are available to all children who are over the age of three. For younger children, a babysitting service is available at an additional cost.

Facilities

Day Itinerary

On arrival, visitors are greeted at the five star Hlosi Game Lodge in the Amakhala Game Reserve with refreshing hand towels and served drinks in the comfortable lounge or on the swimming pool deck. While the luggage is taken to the room and vehicles parked, guests are briefed of their itinerary:
 
Early morning safaris

  • Summer/Spring Months (October - March) morning game drives start at 6:30 am
  • Autumn/Winter Months (April - September) morning game drives start at 7 am

Guests enjoy tea, coffee and cereals with yoghurts in the main lodge half an hour before the matching drive begin. The duration of a game drive is about three to four hours.  During the morning game drive, the Rangers stop to allow guests to get out of the vehicle for a steaming cup of coffee which is traditionally enjoyed with rusks, a South African biscuit.

Brunch

When returning to the lodge from the morning game drive, guests may freshen up before a delicious brunch is served.   This meal is usually acted as a buffet style with a wonderful choice of fresh fruit,  as well as sweet pastries, jams and toast.  A fully cooked breakfast is available.

Relax

After brunch guests relax at the swimming pool or enjoy an afternoon sleep.  Books about Africa, cards, board games including chess as well as television and internet facilities are available in the main lodge.

An unforgettable cruise down the scenic and winding Bushman’s River can be booked on request.  Guests are invited to enjoy a sundowner with snacks.  The river cruise offers guests the best opportunity of viewing the rare African Finfoot and the majestic Fish Eagle.

Malaria Status and Animals

  • The five-star lodge lies in the malaria free Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa's Eastern Cape province.

Children Policy

  • Children of all ages are welcomed to the five star Hlosi Game Lodge in the malaria free Amakhala Game Reserve.  Children under the age of 4 years stay for free and children between the age of 4 and 12 years pay a particular nightly rate.  The child rate applies when children share with two adults.

    Children accommodation at Hlosi

    • Children under 12 years of age are accommodated at the Hlosi Game Lodge by prior arrangement
    • Children 12 and over are helped as adults
    • Children sharing with adults are housed in a cot or on a single bed, depending on their age and subject to availability
    • A maximum of two children may share with two adults in a one-room suite, subject to availability of cots and beds
    • The two-room family suites can accommodate a maximum of three children in the second bedroom, subject to availability of cots and beds

    Rates for children at the Hlosi Game Lodge

    • Children aged 0-3 are accommodated on a complimentary when sharing with at least one adult
    • Children aged 4-11 to pay for a child rate of 50% of the adult rate when sharing with at least one adult
    • Children 12 and over are charged at the adult rate
    • Child rates are inclusive of accommodation, meals, selected beverages, activities and game drives (subject to Ranger discretion)
    • Child rates do not include babysitting.

- Stay on the N2 from Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown (70km).
- Make a RIGHT onto the R342 to Alexandria (Karel Landman Monument).
- DO NOT take the R342 to Paterson.
