Nyama Choma - Lesedi African Lodge

The Nyama Choma Restaurant and Bar at the Lesedi African Lodge is a truly magnificent feature at Lesedi's Cultural Village. The restaurant consists of three floors and can accommodate 180 diners in one seating.

What makes this establishment so unique is that each floor or section offers cuisine from a different African country. Guests to this spectacular restaurant can experience meals from South Africa, East Africa and North Africa.

Ma Thabelengs Shebeen - Lesedi African Lodge

For travellers who enjoy a lively and unique dining experience, Lesedi’s Ma Thabeleng’s Shebeen is the place to visit.  Ma Thabeleng's Shabeen is the perfect place to socialize and just have a good time.  Guests enjoy a variety of traditional meals and shebeen lunches.

The Cultural Experience

The Cultural Experience at the Lesedi Cultural Village takes guests on a tour through the village where they get to view and learn about all of the five tribes that call the village home.

Guests can go to a market and will get to experience traditional dances.  At the end of the day, guests are taken to the main restaurant area where they can sample traditional African meals.

Conferences at the Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village

The Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village in Gauteng, South Africa, offers a unique African conferencing experience. Lesedi offers five conference venues, each with their own style, theme and size.  The Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village strives to offer conference and function experiences which are different from the boring everyday corporate events. 

The 5 conference venues available at Lesedi include the following:

  • Gaditshwene Conference Room
  • Ndaba Nkulu Conference Room
  • The Nile Room
  • Musi's Ndebele Theatre
  • Tswana Letsatsi.

The Ndaba Nkulu Conference Room

The Ndaba Nkulu Conference Room was the first conference venue to be built at the Lesedi Cultural Village.  Ndaba Nkulu translated means a 'big gathering' or 'meeting' which is what this venue is perfect for. The thatched rondavel at Lesedi is situated away from the main buildings and offers its guests a very private and secluded setting.  This venue can accommodate 55 delegates comfortably.

The Gaditshwene

Gaditshwene is a conference venue rich in Tswana Culture.  This venue with its rich colours and large wall murals is fully digital and can accommodate up to 100 conference delegates.  An added feature to this magnificent venue at Lesedi is it all offers breakaway facilities if required. Gaditshwene is a very versatile place and can be used to host galas, conferences, workshops or private parties.

The Nile Room

The Nile Room at the Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village in South Africa is a great venue for private dinners and functions. This spectacular venue has been influenced by the North African Nile.

Cushions are scattered around low tables on the floor and hubbly bubbly's are freely available on the tables. The room has been designed and set up to meet with the traditions of the people of the Nile who when they relax would sit on cushions on the floor smoking their hubbly pipes.

This venue at the Lesedi Cultural Village offers a unique twist to any birthday party or private function.  Belly dancers can also be requested to provide entertainment and add to the theme for the evening.  The Nile Room can accommodate 35 guests and can also be used as a boardroom or conference venue.

Musi's Ndebele Theatre

The Musi's Nedele Theatre is perfect for cinema and theatre style presentations. This theatre has been decorated with large wall murals which represent the Lesedi Culture.

This theatre is a very unique venue and offers a large screen with great sound and it can easily accommodate 120 delegates. The Musi's Nedele Theatre is extremely popular for product launches, with famous brands making use of the facility.

Tswana Letsatsi

Tswana Letsatsi is a large outdoor lapa area at the Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village.  This venue can accommodate up to 120 guests.  This venue is perfect for large dinner functions and guests can enjoy traditional African meals.  Meals are served in the form of a buffet and traditional African braai.

Directions

The Lesedi African Lodge is in the bushveld at Broederstroom, North of Johannesburg. This African Cultural Village is situated on the R512 (the Lanseria Road) North of Johannesburg (and West of Pretoria) on the main route to Sun City and Hartebeespoort Dam.

Driving directions from Johannesburg to the Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural Village:

1. Travel on the M1 north
2. At the Woodmead interchange turns right onto the N1
3. When you reach the Lanseria off-ramp, you will take the R512 north
4. Travel for approximately 40 kms and you will see the Lesedi sign clearly marked on the left-hand side of the road.
