Game Drives

Early morning and evening game drives through the Big Five Kruger National Park are on offer. Children game drives are available for children between the ages of 6 and 16 years of age which make for an unforgettable experience.

Bush breakfasts and bush braais

The unique bush breakfasts and bush braais make for an unforgettable experience in the Kruger National Park.  For the boma dinner, the thrilling game drive leads guests to an open area which is filled with lanterns and fires.  

While listening to the magnificent sounds of the bushveld with its untamed wildlife and the distant animals calling, the meals are grilled on open fires.  A delicious variety of sausages and game meat are available as well as vegetables and salads. Deserts and coffee / tea complete this wonderful evening in the bush.

  • Children are welcome at the Letaba Camp, but those under six may not go on the game drives and only children 12 or over may go on the game walks.

The Safari Tents at Letaba Rest Camp are perfect for your true explores who enjoy the rustic feel of the bush. These canvas tents have two or four single beds and make use of communal camp facilities, one of which is wheelchair friendly.

Hut

The thatch-roof Huts are located on the perimeter of Letaba camp and have views of the surrounding bush. Although the base rate is for two guests, the room has three single beds and is fully self catering, making use of communal camp facilities.

Bungalow

Bungalow BD 2 (15x)

This bungalow sleeps two people and has a small kitchenette with a fridge, sink, hot plate and utensils. It is an air conditioned unit and has an en-suite bathroom.

Bungalow BD3 (22x)

This bungalow can sleep three guests, and each unit is air-conditioned with an en-suite. The small kitchenette contains a hotplate, fridge, utensils and sink.

Bungalow BD3Z (2x)

With easy access to the mobility challenged these three-bed bungalows to have air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom and a small kitchenette. The kitchenette contains a hot plate, fridge, sink and utensils.

 Bungalow BG2U (4x)

Situated on the perimeter of the Letaba Camp, these two-bed units with an en-suite have air conditioning, a fridge and utensils. Guests staying in these bungalows have to make use of the communal kitchen area.

Bungalow BG3U (7x)

With views of either the camp perimeter or the Letaba River, these three-bed huts each have a fridge, en-suite bathroom and air conditioning. These units have communal kitchen facilities that features a sink and electric stoves and does include cooking utensils.

Guest Cottage

Larger groups of guests can stay in the Guest Cottages which sleeps for to six people. Rate is based on four guests and adittional cost applied for extra people.

The two bedrooms have three beds in each, one of which has an en-suite. The bathrooms have a bath and a shower. Each guest house has its well-equipped kitchen with a braai area and large veranda. The guest cottages are wheelchair friendly.

Fish Eagle Guest House

With riverside views, the Fish Eagle Guest House offers accommodation for a maximum of eight guests in the air-conditioned four bedrooms. This guest house has a fully functional kitchen and limited satellite TV available in the guest house. The Fish Eagle Guest House has its private bird hide for guest’s enjoyment.

Directions

Access by road via the Phalaborwa Gate:

Take the N1 toll-road to Polokwane (Pietersburg).
40 km before Polokwane turns right onto the R71 and head for Tzaneen.
After Tzaneen, head towards Phalaborwa and the gate. Allow between 6 to 7 hours for the trip to the gate.
Letaba Rest Camp is 51 km away from the gate.
Allow about 2 hours for the drive to the camp, however if you want to enjoy the game viewing possibilities give you more time.

Access by air:

The nearest airport is Gateway Airport, which is located in Phalaborwa. Gateway is situated about 3 km away from the Phalaborwa Gate. There are daily scheduled flights between Gateway and OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
