Dining at Madikwe Hills Game Lodge

The cuisine at Madikwe Hills Game Lodge combines African influences with international flavors. Traditional, hearty breakfasts are served on the main deck and in addition to an English Breakfast, guests can enjoy Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, and French toast. Lunches are available on the main deck and offer up simple, fresh selections. No two dinners are the same at Madikwe Hills; boma dinners are served under the stars while silver-service meals can be enjoyed in the dining room. Guests can also enjoy dinner on the deck of their private suite.

Game Drives or Walking Safaris

The Madikwe Reserve is home to the Big 5, along with a diverse range of another animal, bird and plant species. The lodge offers game drives and bush walks. The game drives are in open safari vehicles with bucket seats and fold-down armrests. Knowledgeable rangers conduct the morning, afternoon and evening game drives.

The Main Lodge at Madikwe has ten luxurious glass-fronted suites complete with their private deck and private plunge pools. The unusual, yet subtle 'Afrochic' décor integrates natural elements with colors highlighting Africa's ambiance. The suites have been designed for complete relaxation and comfort, with fireplaces, under-floor heating, air-conditioning, outside showers, romantic bathrooms and concertina glass doors which allow guests to feel truly at one with the environment.

Little Madikwe Villa

Little Madikwe is an exclusive private camp which can accommodate between two to eight guests. It is an opulent self-contained 2 Bedroomed Villa measuring 390 square meters. The two additional Luxury Suites cover 150 square meters.  Children of all ages are welcome to stay at Little Madikwe.

Experiencing the ultimate in luxury and privacy, guests at Little Madikwe Hills enjoy their private game drive vehicle with a game ranger, as well as a  butler who takes care of every requirement.  When booking Suites 9 and 10, Little Madikwe becomes an entirely private camp accommodating eight guests, suitable for families and small groups. During their stay, guests set their meal and game drive times.

A welcoming lounge, an excellent wine selection as well as a gourmet kitchen complete an unforgettable safari experience at Little Madikwe.  The large outdoor swimming pool makes for a perfect place for relaxation and fun. Standard in each Suite is open-air decks, luxurious décor, plunge pools, outdoor showers, air-conditioning, fireplaces, and concertina glass doors which open the room up entirely.

Directions

Access to the Madikwe Hills Game Lodge, Madikwe Game Reserve:

Self-drive (4 hours from Johannesburg / Pretoria)
Flight transfer or private charter (50 minutes from O.R.Tambo International Airport Johannesburg).
Road transfers
Complimentary road transfer from the Madikwe Hills airstrip to the lodge.

Directions via Rustenburg (N4) / Swartruggens / Zeerust / Abjaterskop Gate to Madikwe Hills. This route will take approximately 4.5 - 5 hours.

1. From OR Tambo International get on the R21 towards Pretoria up to the Exit to the N1 Polokwane (about 37km).
2. Get onto the N1 towards Polokwane and continue up to the N4 Rustenburg slipway (about 22km). Take the slipway onto the N4 towards Rustenburg (this is just after the Zambezi Drive offramp).
3. Please note that The N4 is a toll road with four toll gates to Zeerust. Three before Rustenburg and one just after Swartruggens.
4. At Rustenburg continue the N4 towards Swartruggens.
5. Continue the N4 through Swartruggens to Zeerust.
6. In Zeerust make a right turn at the ABSA Bank on Main Street approximately in the middle of town, towards Gaborone/Madikwe. Refuel here as there is no fuel in the Madikwe Reserve.
7. After approximately 83 km\'s you will see the Abjaterskop Entrance into the Reserve on your right.
8. Once you enter the Park, there is about 32 km of dirt road to the Lodge.
9. Once through the gate, carry on straight. You will then pass an airstrip on your right-hand side, continue around the airstrip and keep on going until you find a sign board (11km) - from here you follow the signs towards Derdepoort Gate.
10. After 2km, you will get another signboard on your left, keep going towards Derdepoort Gate.
11. After 1.3km you will find another sign board on your left - keep going towards Derdepoort Gate.
12. Continue for 10.6km and you will get another sign board on the right at a four-way crossing. Continue towards Derdepoort Gate.
13. The road will split immediately after the last sign board. Keep right on the well traveled road and drive around the dam until the road becomes long and straight again.
14. If you continue you will find another sign board on your left indicating Molori and Madikwe Safari Lodge to the right. Continue to the next sign board shortly after that on your right-hand side (5.2km). This sign will indicate Madikwe Hills / Etali / Ukuthula. Turn left towards Madikwe Hills.
15. Continue straight on until you will find the final sign board showing Madikwe Hills / Etali / Ukuthula to the left. Keep left and continue.
16. Drive pass Ukuthula entrance and Etali Entrance and after 2.4km turn left towards Madikwe Hills.
