Madikwe River Lodge offers a buffet restaurant and terrace that offers delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Special dietary meals, bush dinners, and packed lunches can also be arranged while boma dinners are also a highlight at the lodge.
Game viewing is Madikwe's primary activity, and the Reserve is the fourth largest game reserve in South Africa and boasts the second largest Elephant population.
Game drives and bush walks are conducted daily by excellent rangers, and specialized children's drives are offered. Game drives during the summer months can include bush dinners, upon request.
Birding safaris are also available at the Madikwe River Lodge where qualified, armed rangers will accompany guests on open Land Rovers to view the abundance of resident and migrant bird species that are found in Madikwe.
Madikwe's convenient location, only 3 and a half hours from Gauteng and a mere 45 minutes by aircraft, has ensured its popularity not only as a conference venue but also as an ideal incentive group destination and package tour combination. The Madikwe River Lodge offers a children's program. On arrival, children are given an interactive booklet and if they are very young, a short story book as well.
The kiddies safaris are booked on request and are conducted between adult drives and are a bit shorter in their duration.
The Deluxe River Chalet offers a one-bedroom unit that sleeps two people and comes with an ensuite bathroom that has a shower. There is a private balcony that offers an amazing sunrise experience.

The Deluxe River Family Chalet offers a one bedroom with twin or double bed options and a sleeper couch. Cots are available on request.

Directions From OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport to the Madikwe River Lodge via Pilanesberg - Derdepoort Gate:
1. From Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport follow the R21, north, to Pretoria (Tshwane) through Kempton Park
2. After40 km follows N1 north to, Pretoria (Tshwane), Pietersburg (Polokwane)
3. From the N1, 12 km, take N4 west into Pretoria (Tshwane), to Rustenburg or Hartebeespoort/dam
4. Follow the N4 through Pretoria, 60 km to Hartebeespoort/dam
5. From Hartebeespoort, follow N4 to Rustenburg for about 30km, go on the R556 to Sun City. 94 km to Sun City
5. Pass Sun Citys entrance (on your right-hand side)
6. Pass the Sun Village garage and shopping center. It is recommended that you fill up with fuel at the Sun Village garage. 5 km from Sun Village turns right at the T junction towards Derdepoort
7. 10 km further turn left towards Bapong
8. Carry on straight on this road for 40 km. (Do not turn off at the Madikwe Hospital sign!)
9. At the second 4 way stop turn right to Derdepoort. 30 km gravel road starts at the Dwarsberg about 15km after that turn right towards Derdeport.
10. After about 40km you will get a four way stop turn left to the gate.
