Dining at the Nedile Game Lodge

Mealtimes at the Nedile Game Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve are an indulgence and can be enjoyed in the elegant dining area or under the stars, around the campfire in the lodge's rock boma.

The cuisine is inspired by the various flavors of Africa, and dishes impeccably fuse these tastes with contemporary recipes from around the globe. Guests are provided with sumptuous meals that have been prepared with only the freshest local produce.

Game Drives or Walking Safaris

Game viewing in the malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve is conducted in open safari vehicles.  On exciting guided walks, guests are afforded the opportunity to get up-close and personal with some of Africa’s most majestic creatures.

The Welgevonden Game Reserve is home to lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, rhino, elephant, zebra, giraffe and many other mammals, bird and tree species.  Both the adventurous game drives as well as the guided walking safaris are conducted by experienced game rangers.  The Bushwalks are dependant on availability.

Swimming

After a fun day of wildlife viewing, guests at the Nedile Game Lodge are invited to cool down in the refreshing rock swimming pool which overlooks the scenic bushveld valley below.

Children Policy
    • Children under the age of 12 pay adult rate and welcome only if a group booking is made.
    • Special authorization will be required from the owners of Nedile Lodge.
    • Children are allowed on game drives at the discretion of the Game Ranger.
    • There are also no fences around the lodge, and wild animals roam freely on the property.
    • There are no safety rails around the private decks, and the landscape lends itself to several precipices.
    • The environment is not child-friendly and could be particularly dangerous for smaller children.
    • There are no babysitting facilities.

The exclusive Nedile Game Lodge, which is located in the malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve, can accommodate ten guests in five luxurious rooms.

With a magnificent view of the bushveld and mountains, each room at the Nedile Lodge features a private deck, fireplace, ceiling fan, in the door and outdoor shower as well as a luxurious en-suite bathroom.

Nedile's stylish suites have been positioned between rocky outcrops on a north-facing mountain slope, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding Waterberg mountains. Two of the suites at the Nedile Lodge may be used as family units with an inter-leading entrance hall.

Directions

Directions are from the OR Tambo (Johannesburg) International Airport to the Welgevonden West Gate (approx. 323km / 3,5 hours drive):

1. Take the N1 - Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg). There are three tollgates to take into consideration.
2. At the Kranskop Plaza tollgate use the left gate on to the R33 to Modimolle (Nylstroom) which is 10.3km further
3. Go straight through Modimolle towards Vaalwater for 66.6km. Pass straight through Vaalwater. Do not turn off anywhere
4. After Vaalwater past the garage, (Spar on the left-hand side), continue straight on the road towards Bulgerivier and Thabazimbi. 24.3km out of Vaalwater you will find the Welgevonden Main Gate on your left-hand side coming from Vaalwater. Please DO NOT take the Welgevonden Main Gate entrance - Keep on going for 23km further.
5. On your left-hand side, you will see the road sign Schoongelegen turnoff. Turn left onto Schoongelegen dirt road
6. There is a road sign indicating the Welgevonden West Gate. Continue along this road for a further 16.3km past Manual Gate to the West Gate on your left-hand side. Traveling time from the Vaalwater (Spar) to the Welgevonden West Gate is approximately 30-35 minutes.
Please confirm your estimated time of arrival at the West Gate. You will be picked up at the gate with an open game viewer. In the park, you are on a scenic game drive for anything between 20 minutes to hours depending on the game viewing. Your vehicle will stay at the West Gate parked behind elephant proof electric fences with 24 hours security.
