A luxurious restaurant is available at the Fort or guests can choose to dine alongside the pool, in the suites or in the bush where food is prepared over an open fire.
The Retreat Selous features the Senses to Africa Spa. The spa treatment rooms are romantically situated on the river.
The Spa runs in conjunction with a medical doctor. Guests are offered the opportunity to experience a spa treatment as one of the two activities per day.
For a nominal charge, visitors can spend the night in the open are Love Nest or in one of the Retreat's Fly Camps. The Love Nest is situated in an open tree house with a large bed, silk mosquito nets, a swing, chill out area and outdoor bathroom.
The Senses to Africa Spa is romantically situated on the river at the Retreat Selous. Guests can enjoy a spa treatment as one of their two daily activities.
The Selous Game Reserve is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Africa and boasts elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, bushbuck, duiker, eland, hartebeest, hyena, impala, giraffe, oryx, reedbuck, waterbuck and zebra. The bird life in Selous is also vast and varied.
Guests should seek professional advice, at least, six to eight weeks before travelling with regards to immunisation and vaccinations. Visitors are also required to be covered by emergency insurance.
Families are welcomed at the Selous Retreat and children are allowed to accompany their parents on game drives. Children can are also offered game tracking experiences with experienced guides where they get a chance to draw their personal bush diary.
The Retreat Selous offers four varied room types. Six Eagle Hill Suites are situated next to the main fort and provide breathtaking views. Guests staying in the Eagle Hill Suites are offered safaris in shared vehicles while meals are available in the main house.
The River Suites at the Retreat Selous stand on raised platforms alongside the river. Each River Suite features its large viewing deck with private plunge pool. Guests staying at the River Suites are offered game drives in a private vehicle with a private guide and meals are served at the restaurant, in the suite or a surprise location with sundowners.
The Lion River Suite at the Retreat Selous is located on a wooden platform with a tented seating area, which can also be used to accommodate additional beds for families. The suite features a private dining room and a plunge pool. Guests are also offered the use of a private safari vehicle with a private guide.
Hippo Point is ideal for those who want a private safari experience. Hippo Point is found 2 km from the main fort, ensuring total seclusion. Two large suites can be found at Hippo Point, located on either side of a swimming pool while each suite also features a sundeck and plunge pool. Also, on offer at Hippo Point is a private bar, lounge and dining area with a dedicated cook and butler. Activities are enjoyed in seclusion with a private guide and vintage safari vehicle. Guests can also enjoy a private activities on the road, boat, on foot or fishing, as well as private SPA treatments.

The Sumbazi airstrip is located just 30 minutes drive from the lodge and is served by several airlines. Daily scheduled flights depart from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Ruaha while charters are also available. From Dar es Salaam, a 70-minute flight is operated comfortably and efficiently by Safari Air Link, Flight Link and Zanair in the morning and by Coastal in the morning and afternoon. The lodge offers a personal meet and greet at the airport in an open safari vehicle.
