For the avid birder, a stay at the Sibuya Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa is a paradise. Coastal, riverine, forest, savannah and many migrant birds add to the colorful and varied list of about 400 bird species. Guests have the opportunity to take a boat or canoe through the magnificent estuary in search for some of the six varieties of a local kingfisher.  Heading downstream to the beach, one can observe the multitude of waders, terns and gulls.

A leisurely walk in the pristine thicket forest of the Sibuya Game Reserve is the best way to encounter the shy Narina Trogon while game drives reveal a host of raptors from the common buzzards to the more rare Bateleur, Crowned or Fish Eagles.   During adventurous night game drives, guests may be lucky enough to see the different varieties of owls and nightjars caught in the spotlight.

Canoes at the Sibuya Tented Camps are available for guests, enthusiastic paddlers and novices alike.
