Dining at the Zwahili Game Lodge

The Zwahili Game Lodge features a fully licensed restaurant and bar. The campfire of the open-air boma welcomes guests back to the lodge after returning from the afternoon/evening game drive. The African tribal drums announce delicious culinary delights. Visitors experience exquisite cuisine at the Zwahili Game Lodge, which is inspired by local flavors combined with Western culinary tradition.

For guests with special dietary requirements (vegan, pescatarian, vegetarian) the chef gladly designs a menu to suit particular wishes.  Private dinners, as well as magnificent bushveld picnics, can be arranged at the most beautiful locations on request.  For very early departures, the lodge happily arranges a complimentary breakfast pack.

Game drives

The profession game ranges at the Zwahili Game Lodge offer day and night game drives which are conducted in open safari vehicles.  The early morning game drives depart the lodge in the summer at 6h00am and in the winter at 6h30, while the afternoon game drives depart at 4h30pm in the summer time and 4h00 during the winter (subject to change).

Bird watching

This region of South Africa is a paradise for avid bird watchers as over 300 species of birds with rare sightings of the Lizard Buzzard, and the brown snake eagle can be seen here. The famous Nylsvley bird sanctuary is in proximity to the Zwahili Game Lodge.

Bush walks

Exciting guided bush walks as well as excursions to ascend the "Witkop" hill for afternoon sundowners as well as African sunsets are also available to guests.

Archeological site

The Zwahili Game Lodge is in a region which is rich in history.  Rock paintings are visible in selected caves showing the existence of past inhabitants of hunters and gatherers, both Koi and Bantu paintings can be found here.

Furthermore, a bead making site, a rain controlling site as well as remains of a banter city were also discovered here.  'Witkop' is an archeological site which goes back in time when this hill was utilized during the Anglo-Boer war as a hideout from the British for almost two years.

Bushveld picnic

The Zwahili Game Lodge prepares traditional African crates which contain delicious meals such as roast chicken, garden salads, yogurt with berries and fruit, mouth watering freshly baked corn bread as well as flavored ice-cold mineral water.   The lodge's guide takes guests to a pleasant picnic location where this treat can be enjoyed.

The magnificent Marula tree, which is in proximity to the lodge, offers an ideal setting for travelers to unwind while enjoying the view of small plains and the watering hole.

Malaria Status and Animals
  • This area of South Africa is malaria-free. Professional guides offer early morning and late afternoon game drives during which guests have the opportunity to observe the magnificent African wildlife in their natural habitat.  Predators are home in the reserve as well as the Kudu but not often seen.

At the Safari Suites of the Zwahili Private Game Lodge and Spa, which feature king size beds, the welcoming feel of a bygone era await guests.  It is here where real comfort, style, and elegance in a safari setting can be enjoyed. Located within short walking distance to the main lodge of Zwahili, the tented camps can be found. 

Beautiful lantern lit paths lead the way the way to Matumba (magic potion), Kifu (desire), Rafiki (Friend), Safari (journey), Matumba (magic potion) and Utambo (space), set within the natural Acacia-thorn and Combretum bushveld.

Executive Suite

The Executive Suite at the Zwahili Game Lodge offers guests luxury and space.  It provides the perfect accommodation base from where to enjoy the gentle sounds of nature combined with a most breathtaking view of the African Bushveld.  The Executive Suite features a lounge with satellite television and fireplace, en-suite bathroom with shower, ball and claw bath, his and hers basins, separate WC & bidet and outside shower for two.

Directions

Directions from Johannesburg and Pretoria to the Zwahili Private Game Lodge and Spa:

- Follow N1 North from Johannesburg / Pretoria towards Polokwane
- Take the left lane at the Kranskop toll gate, exit the freeway
- Turn right onto the R33 towards Marble Hall
- Travel for 27km turns left at the Zwahili directional board
- Travel for 2km turns right at the Zwahili directional board
- There is one diagonal crossing in the road, continue straight to Zwahilis main entrance gate, another 2km.
- Follow the Lodge directional boards; at the speed limit of 40km you will reach the lodge in approximately 15mins
- On confirmation of your reservation, you would have received an access code required for entrance at the main gate.
