Activities, Sports & Leisure

Game Drives

Baine's Camp is situated in the animal rich Okavango Delta in Botswana. It is here in the Delta that some of the most spectacular and rare wildlife live.

At Baine's Camp, the guest has the opportunity of doing a game drive on land or water.  Morning and evening game drives are offered in large open 4x4 vehicles. During higher water levels game drives will be combined with motorized boating excursions. The night game drives are seasonal, depending on water levels.

Walking Safaris

Trained guides who speak fluent English show visitors the bush on foot.  An incredible experience whereby one can walk in places where some of the largest and smallest wildlife have walked and saw first-hand and up close the environment in which they live. One can not approach an animal on foot, but walking safaris are a great way to learn about the wildlife at their level rather than from the 4x4 vehicle.  A very educational experience and a must on your holiday to-do list.

Mokoro and Motorised Boat Excursions

One of the best ways to experience the Okavango wildlife is in a locally made dugout canoe. These boats were originally made from ivory but are now made of fibreglass to protect the environment. These canoes are a great place to see hippos and crocodiles up close in the river but also an excellent way to experience the views of the surrounding plains. This gentle mode of Safari is unique to the river bushmen who made Delta their home. The exciting water safaris are subject to water levels.

Elephant Interaction

An extra activity which is available at Baine's Camp is the opportunity to interact with three semi-habituated elephants. Jabu, Thembi and Morula are elephants who were orphaned when they were younger and adopted into the area.

The interaction includes long walks on the Elephant's Back. Here they show guest how they forage for food, take showers in the Delta Lagoons and strip leaves from branches.  Elephant Interaction is an extra activity provided at Baine's Camp and not included in the accommodation rates.

Helicoptor Rides

Guests can see the Okavango Delta from new heights. Helicopter rides are offered to guests of the Lodge whereby you fly over the Delta and enjoy the amazing area from another angle. The thrilling helicopter rides are available for an additional fee.
