Swimming

The Chisomo Bush Lodge has two swimming pools, with one exclusively for children. These are fantastic for cooling down, relaxing or socializing.

Game Viewing

Traversing over the 9000 hectares of supreme African bushveld, Chisomo is home to the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant) as well as a wealth of other creatures. The open vehicle game drives are perfect for game viewing. Enjoy a sundowner while the sunsets over the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.

The magnificent game viewing makes for perfect photographic opportunities; enjoy the view of the Lowveld from a “kopje” amid the lush vegetation, huge variety of trees and over 365 different bird species. Game drives are conducted by qualified game rangers and Shangaan trackers – who will share their vast experience and knowledge of the African Bush and a chance to view Cheetah on foot.

Karongwe Conference Venue

Conference facilities are offered at the sister property, Shiduli Private Game Bush Lodge, approximately 15 minutes from Chisomo.  The Conference Centre is the perfect venue for leaving the constraints of the office behind.

Catering for up to 40 delegates, this facility provides notepads, internet facilities, sweets, water, and cordials. Brain storming, strategic sessions and team building against the backdrop of the bush makes this a perfect choice for creative thinking. Packages can be tailor-made to complement your specific requirements and can include several activities such as bushwalks, animal tracking and various other activities are on offer.

Malaria Status and Animals
  • As the reserve lies in a malaria area, guests are advised to consult a doctor before travelling, regarding the use of anti-malarial prophylaxis.  

    It is encouraged to dress in long-sleeved clothing in the evenings and to use insect repellant.

    Please be aware that wild and threatening animals are to be found on the reserve and should not be approached or interfered.

Directions

Directions to the Karongwe Game Reserve from Johannesburg:

Take the N4 motorway towards Mbombela (Nelspruit), passing eMalahleni (Witbank) and Middleburg.
Turn left into eMakhazeni (Belfast).
Once in eMakhazeni, follow the signs and turn right towards Dullstroom, passing through Mashishing (Lydenburg).
Continue the R36 to Ohrigstad and the JG Strydom Tunnel.
Approximately 10km after the tunnel, turn left onto the R36 towards Tzaneen.
The Karongwe Game Reserve is situated on your right, with the lodges located as follows:
Kuname 22km
Shiduli 24km
River Lodge and Chisomo 27km.

Directions to the Karongwe Game Reserve from Hoedspruit:

Head south on Argyle Road (650m), then turn left toward R527 (100m).
Turn right toward R527 (140m), turn right onto R527 (31,1km) and then turn right onto R36 (23,1km).
