The Restaurant

With scenic views across the lush Okavango Delta and delicious cuisine to match, the dining experience at Botswana's Eagle Island Camp is one to remember.The restaurant offers guests delicious cuisine as well as elegant picnics for game drives that can also be arranged. Safaris often start early in the mornings.

Guests are woken up with a light breakfast which can be enjoyed in their luxury tent before setting off on the exciting game drive. On return, the restaurant at the Eagle Island Camp offers a delightful lunch. Dinners at the Eagle Island Camp are an unforgettable dining affair, surrounded by wildlife.

Mokoro Canoe Safari

The traditional dugout canoe allows guests to glide over clear and shallow waters while admiring beautiful water lilies and papyrus grasses.

Fishing

Guests set off by boat during the quiet morning, gliding out into the magnificent lagoon.  A fishing trip for guests at the Eagle Island Camp is all about the experience.  

Enjoying the scenery, relaxing, watching birds and wildlife and with the skilled fisherman guide guests are introduced to the fishing information about this region.  The waters here are rich with tilapia, spotted and silver catfish can also be found here.   The African pike is a favourite snare.

Bird watching

Watching Eagle Islands magnificent birdlife is a rare opportunity where 400 aquatic and land species which are attracted by the watery Okavango Delta make for fantastic viewings.  Pel’s fishing owl, the lilac-breasted roller, the Goliath heron or fish eagle, as well as the malachite kingfisher and the wattled crane can be found here amongst many other birds.

Walking safaris

Walking safaris through the Okavango Delta allow guests to explore plants and smaller animals close-up. Discovering insects, big game droppings, animal tracks as well as swarming termite mounds opens up a new world for exploration. 

Guests depart early in the morning into the open grassland which is shaded by tall palm trees and mangosteen.  Visitors might have the chance to observe giraffe, zebra, crocodile, impala and even get the incredible adrenaline rush of sighting a lion or elephant.

Helicopter safaris

Children Policy
  • The safaris at the Eagle Island Camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta are conducted to maximise the enjoyment of wildlife while enjoying luxury accommodation, delicious food and excellent wines.

    As this wilderness area is a dangerous environment, the Eagle Island Camp cannot accommodate children under eight years of age unless special prior arrangements.

    Eagle Island Camp provides a relaxed atmosphere which may not be suitable for children.  Children are always welcome to join safaris when accompanied by an adult and eight years and older.

Luxury Twin

Accommodation at this luxury safari lodge in Botswana offers excellent views of the beautiful surrounding environment and is shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The luxury tents at the Eagle Island Camp are located on raised wooden platforms.  The private, spacious decks offer chairs and a hammock which provide the ideal place for viewing wildlife. The interiors of the tents are luxuriously appointed providing en suite bathrooms, fully stocked mini-bars, four-poster beds with mosquito netting, as well as air conditioning.  In-room safes are provided as well.

The magnificent Eagle Island Camp offers its private licensed airstrip. The best way to access Botswana's Eagle Island Camp is via Maun, which can be reached by scheduled, daily flights from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Orient Express Safaris Eagle Island Camp is also accessible from Livingstone in Zambia as well as from Kasane in Northern Botswana. Access to the Eagle Island Camp from Livingstone, Maun, and Kasane is by shared charter aircraft. Private charter flights are available on request.
