Emily's Restaurant - Emily Moon River Lodge

The Emily's Restaurant exudes the essence, spirit and feel of Africa with beautiful collector's pieces in every nook and cranny. The chef extraordinaire produces an eclectic menu for candlelit dinners and fun lunches around the swimming pool area relaxing, having a cocktail and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

There are a vibey little bar and sundowner deck where a great buzz happens before dinner and a large log fireplace for after dinner Irish or just a cosy little chat.

The Emily Moon River Lodge is located in proximity to beautiful beaches, shops, golf courses and other restaurants and conveniently positioned for covering a large area of the Garden Route.

The retreat's location has a unique outlook over the Bitou Valley and Wetland with the winding Bitou River running through it. There is abundant bird life with flocks of geese and ducks, water birds of all sizes and descriptions, a riverine bush that attracts many species of birds, and the brightly coloured sunbirds that come in large numbers to feast on the nectar from flowers in the garden.

Boating & Watersports

The Bay is an excellent venue for Hobie Cat sailing, surfing, wave skiing and bathing. Launching of power boats is on Central Beach, and sailing boats may launch off Hobie Beach. The Keurbooms River is an ideal water-skiing and canoeing venue. The river is zoned regarding water sports.

Keurbooms River Ferry and Angling Club

The Keurbooms River Nature Reserve has situated 5 km from Plettenberg Bay, direction Port Elizabeth. This nature reserve stretches up the river for about 5-6km. To experience the beauty of the reserve guests may either take a ferry trip which lasts two and a half hours or hires a boat with an engine from the Angling Club. There are some picnic spots next to the river with little beaches where one can spend the day swimming, tanning, fishing, etc.

Central Beach

Central Beach is often the busiest beach in Plettenberg Bay. Lifeguards on duty in season. This beach is the launch site for Marine Safaris, dive charters and ocean kayaking tours and facilities include restaurants, bars, public toilets and the local National Sea Rescue Station. (2 km / 2 minutes from Plett Central)

Robberg Beach

Popular for long - long - walks, Robberg Beach stretches for kilometres between the Robberg Peninsula and Beacon Island. Facilities include public toilets and various parking areas - the closest being 2 km / 2 Minutes from Plett Central.

Keurbooms Beach

Keurboom Beach near Plettenberg Bay is a little wider but equally beautiful. Facilities include a restaurant, public toilets and parking (10 km / 15 from Plett Central).

Directions

Directions from Cape Town through George & Knysna (6hrs drive):

Take the N2 Highway East from Cape Town towards George and Port Elizabeth.
Pass George and head towards Knysna
Continue through the town and leave Knysna on the N2 highway towards Plettenberg Bay.
Once here, stay on the N2 highway, passing the Shell Ultra & Engen Petrol stations.
Pass the Goose Valley Golf course on the right, you will see a signboard for Mallard River Lodge/Emily Moon River Lodge
Make a left at the Rietvlei Road sign (Penny Pinchers Corner).
Follow this road to the end, approx 1.5kms, where you will find Emily Moon River Lodge/Mallard River Lodge.
