Activities, Sports & Leisure

Game viewing

Guests at the Garden Route Game Lodge near Mossel Bay have the chance to participate in breathtaking sunset and sunrise game drives in an open Landrover accompanied by an experienced game ranger. The Ranger enables fantastic sightings of white rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant and cheetah.
 
The game reserve of the Garden Route Game Lodge is also home to zebras, giraffes and several antelope species including Bontebok, kudu, red hartebeest, eland, springbok, and impala.
 
The game drives through the reserve taking between 2 and 3 hours and include coffee stops on the morning drive, and a sundowner stops on the late afternoon/evening drive.

Kids Bushwise Activity Program

All children are invited to take part in the thrilling morning and evening game drives when accompanied by an adult.  Families are travelling with the kids either have their game vehicle or share it with other families. Babysitting services are available.
 
The friendly game ranger holds the Kids Bushwise Activity program at the lodge.  This exciting children holiday program includes activities such as kids game drives where children experience the excitement of getting up close to Africa's wildlife in the game reserve, a guided bush walk and insect walk.  Fishing at the nearby waterhole is also available for children.
 
Kids enjoy the interactive tours at the Reptile Center which is home to numerous snakes and crocodiles. 
 
Other children facilities at the Garden Route Game Lodge include a heated and cold swimming pool as well as two children’s themed play areas.

The Garden Route Game Lodge features an outdoor swimming pool with a wooden deck which provides the perfect place for relaxation on the comfortable sun lounge chairs.

Day Itinerary

An overnight stay at the Garden Route Game Lodge, South Africa

  • 14:00 Check in
  • 16:00 (May-Aug), 16:30 (April and September) & 17:00 (October to March)  Depart for evening game drive with your ranger, enjoy a sundowner stop at the lookout point on the reserve.
  • 19:00 Return to the Garden Route Game Lodge for dinner in the Boma or the Serengeti’s Restaurant.
  • 21:00 Enjoy a quiet evening at leisure.

Next day:

  • 7:15 Depart on the sunrise game drive with the game ranger
  • 9:00 return to the lodge for a full buffet breakfast in the Serengeti’s Restaurant.
  • 10:30 Join the guided tour to the Reptile Center.
  • 12:30 Enjoy a light lunch at the restaurant or the poolside.

Children Policy
    • Kids of all ages can be accommodated at the Garden Route Game Lodge.
    • Children can share accommodation in the Luxury Lodge Family Rooms.
    • Children between 6 to 12 years pay half price for accommodation packages, meals and game drives.
    • Children between 3 and six years pay a quarter the price for accommodation packages, meals and game drives.
    • Children under the age of 3 are accommodated free of charge.
    • A maximum of 2 kids and one infant can be provided per room with a maximum of 2 adults sharing.
    • The children activities which are part of the 'Kids on Safari' program including extra game drives
    • Parents are welcome to join the children's game drive in the early afternoon.

The Lodge Family Rooms at the Garden Route Game Lodge lead onto a west facing balcony. The African style decorated Lodge Family Rooms feature a mini bar fridge, telephone, electronic safe, tea/coffee facilities, TV and DVD. Two sleeper couches are available which are ideal for children sharing the room with their parents.  Baby cots are also available for infants.  The en-suite bathrooms in the Lodge Family Rooms offer his and her vanities, bath and shower.

Guests staying in one of the Valley View Bush Chalets enjoy privacy and seclusion in these unique, free standing luxury units which provide en suite bathrooms. The private deck overlooks the scenic valley which is overgrown with Cheesewoods, Milkwoods, Wild Olives, and other indigenous vegetation. Directions

The Garden Route Game Lodge is off the N2 along South Africas beautiful Garden Route in the Western Cape.

Directions from Cape Town to the Garden Route Game Lodge:

Take the N2 highway out of Cape Town and head east for 348 km.
Once you get to a small town called Albertinia, the entrance to the Garden Route Game Lodge will be 7km after this city.

Directions from George to the Garden Route Game Lodge:

Take the N2 highway and head west for 85 km.
Once you cross over the Gouritz River Bridge (Bungy Jumping), the entrance to the Lodge will be 12 km after the bridge.
