One such place is the extraordinary and impressive Kruger National Park.  This world renowned park extends over 19,000 square kilometres and is considered one of the largest game reserves in Africa. 

Other outstanding attractions include the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Pot Holes, God’s Window, Mac-Mac Falls and Pilgrim’s Rest.  These charming places all form part of the Panorama Route and offer nothing short of gorgeous beauty.  Explore mountains, waterfalls and the river canyon while birds of prey and intriguing small animals keep you company.

Local villages, the Valley of the Oliftants, the Khamai Reptile Park, the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre and the Cheetah Project complete the round-up of exceptional and magnetic attractions offering guests days filled with copiousness amounts of incredible flora and fauna.

Day Itinerary

A day at the Masodini Private Game Lodge can look something like this:

  • Early morning wake-up with tea, coffee and rusks
  • Guided game walk or game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge
  • Relaxing morning around the splash pool and wildlife viewing from the hide, the viewing deck or the safe encampment
  • Lunch is served, by arrangement
  • Late afternoon game drive, evening sundowners in the bushveld and a night drive back to the lodge
  • Dinner around the open fire
  • Night-time viewing from inside the encampment with the aid of spotlights used to light up the watering hole.

Malaria Status and Animals
  • The Masodini Private Game Lodge is considered to be in a low-risk malaria area. 

    Not only will guests witness the majestic “big 5" wildlife being lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and leopards, the lodge’s proximity to vast bushveld also ensures sightings of cheetahs, giraffes, warthogs, hyenas, jackals and large amounts of birds of prey.

Children Policy
  • Children are very welcome at the four star Masodini Private Game Lodge, and little ones under the age of two do not pay to stay at the lodge.  Children under the age of twelve will pay half the adult rate.

Pet Policy
  • Regrettably, pets are not allowed at the lodge.

The One Bedroom Chalet at the Masodini Game Lodge in the Balule Nature Reserve of the Greater Kruger National Park offers a choice of a Double Bed or 2 Single Beds.  Guests are accommodated in comfort and enjoy space in a tranquil and natural setting.

Directions

Directions to the Masodini Private Game Lodge:

Take the N4 from Pretoria, or the N12 from Johannesburg to Witbank.
From Witbank travel via Belfast, Dullstroom, Lydenberg, Ohrigstad and the Abel Erasmus Tunnel to Hoedspruit.
Travel through Hoedspruit across the 4 way stop in the centre of Town then over the railway bridge to the second 4 way stop where you must turn left onto the R40, the road to Phalaborwa.
After 16 km along this road, you will see the BALULE, OLIFANTS WEST GATE sign on your left indicating the main entrance on the right.
Upon entering Balule Nature Reserve and having paid a small Conservation fee, the security guard will direct you to Masodini.
Turn immediately left and follow the Maroelaweg for approx. 5 km.
You will come to see the MASODINI sign on your left, indicating the entrance road to Masodini Game Lodge.
Follow the main track to the Lodge.

The direct route from Johannesburg and Pretoria to the Masodini Private Game Lodge takes approximately 5 hours, depending on the stops made along the route.
The Panorama route via the Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes and the other sightseeing attractions along the way will take about 8 hours.

Access to the Masodini Private Game Lodge by Air

There are daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to the Eastgate Airport which lies about 7 km away from Hoedspruit.
Guests can be collected from here and driven to the Masodini Private Game Lodge.
The flight from Johannesburg takes less than one hour.
