Dining at the Pitse Lodge

Dining at the Pitse Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve is an unforgettable experience.  Weather permitting, guests have the unique opportunity to dine under the African stars in the boma of the Lodge.  Delicious meals are prepared for guests during their stay for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Activities, Sports & Leisure

Game watching

Game drives are available for guests staying at the Pitse Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve.  Visitors may experience a breathtaking sunrise safari to witness the break of the day or a leisurely sundowner as the night falls over the wilderness.

Spectacular views of the constantly changing scenery can be enjoyed of passing wildlife around the Pitse Lodge. Witness Lion and Elephant or herds of Wildebeest and Antelope coming to drink at the Lodge waterhole.

Swimming

Guests are invited to relax and soak up the African sun while lounging at the swimming pool or watch the colorful birds from the Lodge. Binoculars and a telescope are available for your use.

Reading

The Pitse Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve features a library which offers a relaxing sanctuary for quiet contemplation and relaxation. A range of books and DVD's of the animals, birdlife and vegetation of the Waterberg are available.

Bird watching

The magnificent Welgevonden Game Reserve in South Africa's Limpopo Province is home to an abundance of colorful and unique birdlife.  Avid birdwatchers are welcome to sit back and relax while observing these wonderful creatures fly by the lodge or on game drives.

Children Policy

  • All children are allowed to stay at this Lodge and children's rates will be as follows:

    • Under two years - no cost if sharing with two full paying adults
    • 2 to 11 years - half rate (50%) if sharing with two full paying adults
    • 12 and older - full price.
Social Responsibility

  • The main community project for 2011 to which The Pitse Lodge contributed was the building of a community house for an individual who does a lot of volunteers work throughout the community.  Sam assists with the feeding of hundreds of children on a weekly basis, and the staff at Lodge chose to build him a house as he was living far away from where his help was needed.

    The house was built and erected in 4 days and with the assistance of Pitse Lodge furniture for the house was also purchased. Electricity is available to Sam's house, and he has necessary lights which he can use in the evenings.  Sam is very grateful to his home, and the staff at the lodge hopes to continue to help others in need in a similar manner.

The five thatch and stone luxury chalets at this Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve are stylishly decorated.  Two of the chalets are inter-leading which is suitable for families. 

The chalets 1, 2 and 5 are thatch and stone with luxurious en-suite bathrooms and outside showers. Chalets 3 and 4 are linked by an entrance hall and are ideal for families with small children.

The Lodge is available on an exclusive basis and can accommodate up to 10 guests. The lounge, library, dining area and deck overlook the open plains, and the boma plays host to intimate dinners.

Driving directions to the Lodge from OR Tambo International Airport:
1. Take the R21 to City Center/Kempton Park/Pretoria
2. After 35km take exit 134 for N1 North toward Polokwane
3. Continue the ramp and merge onto N1
4. Turn left to stay on N1
5. Take the R33 exit toward Marble Hall/Modimolle
5. Turn left onto R33
6. Continue onto R517
7. After 6km, turn left
8. After 30km, turn right
9. Take the 1st left
