Lodge Restaurant - Qambathi Mountain Lodge

Guests staying at the Qambathi Mountain Lodge, KwaZulu-Natal, may experience “fine dining at its best”.  Breakfast and dinner, a set menu, is served daily and lunch and picnic baskets are available on request.

Swimming

The pool deck is home to an attractive swimming pool with majestic views of the gardens and mountains.  A swim in this delightful pool will ensure that guests are well and truly relaxed and revitalized.

Game drives

Eland, hartebeest, blesbok, zebra, duiker, reedbuck and the protected orbit, are all wildlife on the local reserves.  Discover these sights during a game drive in the open game viewer while witnessing the outstanding view from the mountain top.  There is a fascinating mixture of grasslands, wetlands, and local mountain forests and so the local landscape allows for exceptional sightseeing.

Wine and Dine initiative

The Qambathi Mountain Lodge forms part of a KwaZulu-Natal Wine and Dine Initiative where guests and tourists can experience the highest standard of gastronomy from just a select few good lodges in the region.

Guests mingle with the chef and benefit from his tips and wine pairing with the delicious food.  Courses develop into exciting events that inspire entertaining discussions with the chef and other diners.  Bush dinners and shining stargazing around the boma fire set the tone for a perfect end to the picture-perfect day.

The extensive 200-kilometer long mountain range, The Drakensberg, provides an incredible backdrop for unique experiences in the region. The mountainous wonderland is a world heritage site and so very popular amongst South Africans and international tourists alike while The Kamberg Nature Reserve and The Highmoor Nature Reserve (just 5km away from the lodge) leave guests breathless at the magnificence of the region.

The Midlands Meander, best described as one of South Africa’s most popular travel routes, is renowned for its beautiful and breath-taking splendor.

Attractions include lures of a former area as well as some outdoor activities ranging from golf to horse riding, fly-fishing to picturesque park-drives.  Some might say the “shop-till-you-drop” experience at the exclusive arts and crafts amenities is the best of all!

Conferences at the Qambathi Mountain Lodge

Although primarily designed as a wedding venue, the Qambathi Mountain Lodge can be used for business meetings and conferences and offers guests access to a fax machine, internet-enabled PC and a photocopy machine.

Summer and winter weddings are accommodated in the “boutique barn” Although many couples have said their nuptials under the forest trees or in the glorious gardens.  The lodge’s deck, with impressive views of the garden, plays host to excellent receptions and can accommodate a maximum of eighty guests.

Directions

Directions by road from the N3 toll road:

- Take the R 103 turn off to Rosetta if coming from Mooi River.
- If coming from Pietermaritzburg, take the R103 to Nottingham Road turn off.
- Follow the signs to Rosetta and then turn either left or ride on the road indicated as Kamberg Rock Art Centre.
- Follow this road for 28 km before turning left onto a gravel road, also indicated as Kamberg Camp and Rock Art Centre.
- After 1.9 km you will find the Qambathi Mountain Reserve gate on the right-hand side.
