Dining at the Sediba Private Game Lodge

Dining at the Sediba Private Game Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve is delightful experiences where the chef creates mouth-watering masterpieces for guests' enjoyment.

The meals at Sediba are served at various locations including the lodge's main decks, on one of the spectacular and traditional boma's or in the dining rooms inside.  On special request, private candlelit dinners in the guests' suites or on the terrace can also be arranged at Sediba.
 
The five star Sediba Private Game Lodge in South Africa features a spectacular outdoor boma which has been constructed out of natural rock at the Sediba Letlapa Lodge. This impressive structure of solid rock walls combined with dramatic light, smoke and fire effects, provide the illusion of dining in a cave starlit by the African sky.  An unforgettable dining experience which is one-of-a-kind and can be exclusively enjoyed at Sediba.
 
Guests are free to browse through Sediba's wine cellar or ask one of the chefs to recommend a glass of wine to complement their meal.
 
Both lodges at Sediba boast well-stocked bars with a broad range of local and international drinks, if desired complimented by a cigar from the excellent selection.

Wildlife Activities

The Sediba Private Game Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve offers two exciting game drives daily in open 4x4 vehicles from where the best views can be guaranteed.  The early morning game drives start at around 6h00 with a coffee/tea stop during the drive.  A delicious breakfast is available upon return at the Sediba Lodge.

The late afternoon game drive at the Sediba Game Lodge is conducted at around 4h00pm which includes a sundowner stop with refreshing beverages and snacks.  Private game drives are available upon request at an additional charge.
 

Nature walks

Breathtaking nature walks can be arranged upon request through the Welgevonden Game Reserve, which allows guests to get to know the smaller creatures of the untamed African bushveld.

The Sediba Private Game Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province, South Africa, features a conference venue.

The Sediba Game Lodges can be booked out on an exclusive basis whereby only conference delegates of a particular group overnight at Sediba and make use of the facilities.

Successful, unique and exciting discussions are ranging from brain storming sessions to strategy planning and team building, the Sediba Private Game Lodge offers delegates a luxurious African safari getaway. Special meals and activities can be arranged to suite the requirements and needs of a particular conference group.

Day of arrival at the Sediba Game Lodge

  • 13:00 Arrival at the Gate of the Welgevonden Game Reserve or fly from Johannesburg Airport to the Lodge in a helicopter or small aircraft ( private charter)
  • 14:15 Meet and Greet: snacks and welcome refreshments drinks are provided
  • 14:30 Transfer from the secure parking area to the Sediba Game Lodge
  • 15:00 Welcome with the African Sediba Choir
  • 15:15 Check into the Luxury Chalet
  • 15:30 Relax and refresh: swimming pool, gym, health and beauty spa
  • 16:00 Coffee and tea with pastries on the main deck in the late afternoon
  • 17:00 Depart for the late afternoon/night game drive ( 2 - 3 hours)

  • The Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province of South Africa is malaria-free and home to Africa's 'Big Five': lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant.

Children Policy
  • Children above the age of 12 are welcome at the Sediba Private Game Lodge.  Children under the age of 12 can stay on special request at the discretion of the Lodge manager.

    Please be advised that children under the age of 12 years old may not go on a game drive due to safety reasons.  Babysitting services are available at the Lodge, which can be pre-booked.

Directions

Directions to the Sediba Private Game Lodge

Option 1:

Take N1 Pretoria/Pietersburg to Pietersburg (POLOKWANE)
At the Kranskop Toll, Gate takes left-hand gate option (Nylstroom/Marble Hall) (MODIMOLLE)
Travel through Nylstroom (MODIMOLLE) and drive 60km to Vaalwater
Go straight through Vaalwater (MABATLANE) approximately 24km from Vaalwater (MABATLANE)
On your left-hand side is the Welgevonden Main Gate
Carry on past the Main Gate for approximately 22km until you come to Schoongelegen Road which is a gravel road
Turn left into Schoongelegen Road and continue for about 16km until you reach Welgevonden West Gate on your left-hand side
(The gravel road to the West Gate carries high volumes of traffic and is often in a poor condition. Please drive slowly and allow at least 30 minutes to travel this road to The Western Gate)

Option 2:
Pretoria N1 or N4 to Rustenburg & Sun City. At Pilanesberg turn Right at four-way Northam onto Thabazimbi in town turn left at the total garage (Lephalale) turn right 25km still on Lephalale. Carry on to T Junction turn right to Vaalwater. After 4 km turn right to Schoongelegen on 16km of dirt road. Enter the Western Gate of the Welgevonden Game Reserve.

The lodges at the Sediba Private Game Lodge are located quite far away from the gate. To avoid inconvenience, guests are transferred from the Gate to the Sediba Lodge at certain times: the pickup times at the Western Gate is at 12h00 or 14h00 any late pickup times will be charged additionally per trip.

No private vehicles are allowed in the Welgevonden Game Reserve and guests have to be taken at the gate by the Rangers.
Safe covered parking is provided at the gate on the inside of the reserve.

Access to the Sediba Private Game Lodge:

By road:
Road transfers from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg takes guests to the Welgevonden Western Gate in approximately 3 and a half hours via an easy scenic drive on national roads. Private car transfers can be arranged on request.

By helicopter:
The Sediba Private Game Lodge, South Africa, features a private helicopter which is available for guest flights to and from the lodge. Both Lodges at Sediba, Letlapa, and Letlapala have a helicopter landing pad next directly at the site.

By charter airplane:
On request, Sediba can arrange road transfers to and from the Sediba lodges by private plane. The plane lands on an airstrip in the Welgevonden Game Reserve where the open Land-Rover welcomes the guests with cocktails and game snacks. From the airstrip, the guests are taken to the Sediba Lodge.

Parking

Secure parking is available at the Gate of the Welgevonden Game Reserve where guests park their car during their stay at the luxurious Sediba Private Game Lodge, South Africa.
