Social Responsibility
  • The Tau Foundation

The Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa is recognised as one of the only game reserves worldwide which are proclaimed of being the most appropriate and sustainable land use for a particular region.

This game reserve is an excellent example of the state, the private sector and local communities managing a reserve. The aim is to involve the local community through tourism, training and skills by prioritising the protection of the natural environment.

The Tau Foundation funds the community project in Madikwe, North West province, by making donations to this non-profit organisation.  Several projects in the local Supingstad community have already been set up, and the Tau Foundation has made significant achievements thus far. Schools are also benefiting by receiving funds to keep class properties safe and upgrading school sports fields and playgrounds.

    The Tau Tree Fund

The Tau Tree Fund aims to give guests at the Tau Game Lodge in South Africa a chance to contribute back to the environment.  With trees being a precious, natural resource all over the world, it has become crucial to plant more indigenous trees.  Especially the endangered species including the Maroela.

The Tau Tree Fund was able to acquire eight Bushveld Red Balloon trees. These trees are very rare, and less than 50 of these are known of in the greater Madikwe region of South Africa.
